Matthew Pistilli named director of assessment and research, effective Aug. 9.
Matthew Pistilli, director of assessment and planning at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis, has been named director of assessment and research, effective Aug. 9.
Pistilli has experience working with a wide range of student affairs programs and initiatives to determine needs, areas for enhancement, instruments to assess student learning outcomes, trainings and evaluations of services. He has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and Spanish (1999) from Southwest Minnesota State University. He earned both his master’s degree in student affairs (2001) and a doctorate in higher education administration (2009 from Purdue University).
“I am thrilled to have this opportunity. I look forward to working with Dr. Harmon and student affairs staff to fully understand how students learn in various contexts outside the classroom,” Pistilli said. “I am excited to tell the story of how the division contributes to their educational experiences at Iowa State.”
Pistilli will report to the office of the senior vice president for student affairs. He will be charged with leading division-wide design, evaluation and implementation of assessment and research projects for student affairs programs and services.
“Dr. Pistilli is an excellent addition to the division and our leadership team,” said senior vice president for student affairs Martino Harmon. “His extensive experience in student affairs will be critical in guiding staff through methods that will assess the effectiveness of our programs and ultimately result in improvements designed to better serve our students.”
Pistilli will be the first director of assessment and research for the division of student affairs at Iowa State University.
